That's funny. I always think of Hyundais in that sense, but Nissan is the Hyundai of Japanese cars. Whenever I look at them at the auto show I'm amazed at the difference in the quality of their switch gear and finish compared to other Japanese brands. A small sample, but consistent.

Are we offending any Nissan fans here? If so, what do you see in them?

No longer a Nissan owner, and happy to see them get trashed. I had a Nissan Frontier that was comically bad. If I wrote a list of everything that went wrong with it you'd probably think I was lying.

Nerd fact: That wasn't him at Mount Panorama. They shot that at the 12 hour in February and it was NZ's Liam Lawson driving it

Full solar eclipse yesterday on the western tip of Australia. The ningaloo eclipse.

So lets officially marry it with Dark Side of the Moon...

From Pink Floyd's own youtube channel, matched to end 'eclipse' with totality.

Graham Hill was the best. One of my early racing heroes. At the Indy 500 Victory Banquet (probably after his win in 1966), “In conclusion I have just heard of a new male birth control pill. You put it in your shoe and it makes you limp.” He then turned and limped off the stage. My dad was howling in laughter. I wasn't quite sure of what he meant. But I didn't forget it.

Ok that was bloody awesome!

The one thing I thought funny, from a computer geek side.... was that the software looked like it was old windows 95 based. And then you think, yeah, no one would update software on an older engine that was probably one year only, and since the restorer is a son of an Ilmor boss then it might be right to assume that the laptop and software are original as well, kept by Ilmor engineering.

Also they put a pop-off valve on it. So its probably damn near if not 100% original stock, and probably the closest to original vintage (that hurt saying that :irked:) indycar around.

And it could have been its own thread. ;) Wonder if they'll get it out to a track and an old driver back to let it loose.

not his first restoration. A few years ago he redid the PC23

Racer ran a story earlier in the week. From memory it is the only car from the era with the original everything.

There's a market in keeping ancient laptops running to run historic race cars. If you ever see demonstrations at Goodwood or similar there's a variety of ancient computers that show up

U2 flight ops always means some views of their chase cars.

More impressive is the short take off run and climb rate at the 0:40 second mark.
