Foyt was the slowest and did not make the field.

I would think Spencer himself is a big enough handicap that they wouldn't need to slap a restrictor plate on his car.

Also I thought I would miss Buckshot Jones, but Larry Foyt seems to be doing a mighty fine job.

Looks like we'll have an easy time updating the Scorecard for this week.

I wonder if anyone from the team actually made h/motel reservations for the weekend.

At what point does this effort get euthanized?

Hopefully soon. Don't get me wrong I am a Foyt fan. But his Nascar effort is a joke.

This is perhaps the worst full-time Winston Cup effort (driver and team collectively) I have ever seen.

IIRC the team didn't do to bad last year with Mike Wallace especially considering it is a 1 car team. I knew the program was in trouble this year when I saw that Larry was getting the seat. He seemed so uncompetitive last year.

So is his "Indycar" effort.

He scored one top ten in 21 races (Bristol). The #14 spent most of the season in the second half of the grid whether Compton or Wallace drive it. It's a lousy ride and a very good driver would do well just to run in the top 25 each week. Add Larry to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster which is what this is.

Winning Indy 4 times does not make one perfect or immune to criticism. We wouldn't harp on Larry if it weren't for the Foyt worshippers beginning posts with "When you win Indy 4 times then you can question AJ"

You just don't know what cheap labor means.

Worse than even the #44 with Buckshot Jones?

Yes. It's not even close. Buckshot actually qualified for races on speed and passed other cars on the track (e.g.: finished 12th at Atlanta, 19th at Darlington). Larry has made one race on speed (35th...woo hoo) and may have passed 2 or 3 cars all season. And neither Grissom nor Nadeau were able to get that Petty dogsled to run much faster.

I'm not saying that the combination of the lousy Petty car and the not very good Jones was that good. It wasn't. But the combo of Larry and that car is in a league of bad all its own.

Yep, the Harrah's sponsorship obviously didn't come with the $2.95 all-you-can-eat buffet. ;)

Larry Foyt missed the field?

Come to find out that's not the worst of it.

The car wasn't even legal (http://www.thatsracin.com/mld/thatsracin/5561531.htm).

Not only is AJ's team not fast, they can't even cheat very well any longer.

When you can't even qualify when your car is illegal...

Imagine cheating on a test in high school and still flunking. That's what Foyt's team just did.

Does anyone else want to question my conclusion of this being the worst full-time WC effort* ever?

*Not counting the old days of tiny privateer owner/driver efforts.

Sure, I will.

They haven't finished the season yet.

And I wouldn't put any good money on them doing it, either.
