Is that the biggest paper in Houston? or is it a web archive like this (http://web.archive.org/web/20001015235747/www.seventhgear.com/cgi-shl/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true) ?

Perhaps I shouldn't complain. Looks like it is just as sloppy here in Canada, as evidenced by this (http://www.canada.com/topics/sports/autoracing/index.html)

Is that the biggest paper in Houston?

It is the only city wide paper here. There have been some ads for the race in the paper over the last month or so. The Chronicle is a sponsor so I assume the race is getting a deal on the ads. I'm hoping to see better coverage starting this weekend.

I don't normally watch local TV or listen to local radio. Has there been any advertising?

not like in the past when it was downtown. I expect attendence to be soft. The Astros are in town also

I have seen a large number of television ads. I don't listen to much radio but, I have heard a few on there as well.

In addition to those, Finger's Furniture has been running a ad series that is centered around their sponsorship of the race as well.

I guess it all depends on the programing you watch because I think that they are advertising more on the media than they did in the past.

As far as the paper, the Chronicle is a leftist propaganda rag in a very pro Republican area. It is the only daily English language paper in town but, they fail to hit the mark when it comes to the target audience. Therefore, it doesn't get to the people that spend the money in this town. It's basically a paperless city.

Most of the inner-city lefties read El Dia Houston instead of the Chronicle so, they don't even get the subscribership of the folks they are trying to target.

It gets tossed in my yard for free and I have never subscribed to the paper. I guess they do that so that they can claim certian distribution numbers in specific demographic areas.

Saw a Budweiser billboard for the Grand Prix yesterday on I-10 in Katy.

Also Reliant Energy had an ad included with this months power bill.

The chronicle's sports section isn't that great. Some decent baseball coverage but that's about it imo. The columnists are an aggy and a 'horn and the aggy's a total homer who's clueless about everything, and the 'horn's a dumbass who talks out of both sides of his mouth at all times.

2nd day of the week, 2nd story, first Atlantics, now Legge...

I remember when Houston used to have the race downtown, there'd be a dedicated race section in the paper the week before the race.

Looks like a fair amount of coverage from a mediocre sports section in a stick & ball town.

I was disappointed not to see that in Sunday's paper.

Weather forcast looks good, perhaps a little cool in the evening.
