Didn't Champ car sign a paint company sponsorship deal?

Does it only cover red and white paint?

And I find it rather depressing that Newman Haas doesn't seem to have a sponsor for Bruno yet.

You really think they painted it red and white just for the fun of it if they plan on painting it a different color for an as yet un-named primary sponsor? They have plenty of time to announce a sponsor. I just hope that whoever that sponsor is, their corporate colors are something other than ****ing red & white.

Maybe they have him driving a Bourdais car so he'll understand that they are in equal equipment and he's losing because Bourdais is better.

What the heck happened to PacifiCare?

Purchased by United Healthcare (www.uhc.com)

The branding may have changed to an affiliated company:

maybe something like: www.eams.com?

I hear it will be red and white and the sponsor is a "very visible" one. Announcement soon. (not the Canadian govt. :D )

You mean Ansan '06 visible, or more like Beijing '07 visible?

Inquiring minds want to know.

PS, with all this talk about painting I hear the latest is to just cover the car with a colored film. Peel and stick? Lighter, faster, less expensive...been doing it in DTM. Anyone know anything about that? Like a metro bus?

Perhaps they landed Intel? Colors are similar to the Rusport car from last year.

It's been done with increasing frequency in NASCAR since DW's chrome car first appeared in 1997. I'm not aware of it having yet been done by any team in any open wheel series.

As for United Healthcare, my understanding is they didn't want to continue, and the contract was up anyway.

The only time I think "a wrap" might have been done in champcar was JV's Superman car at MIS in 1999?

Kinda tough with all the aero twisty bits hanging on the car but cool

I just undertook a whole branding thing for my company and had three company vans "wrapped". The graphics were all done in NC by a company that does them for NASCAR. Cost was only about $700 plus labor from my guys to squeegy it on (which is a trickly talent).

As for United Healthcare I am not surprised they dropped it. Culturally they are way different than Pacificare and besides I'm not sure auto sponsorship is approapriate for an industry that pretty much everyone hates, thinks is too expensive, and have little choice in choosing anyway. Insurers make their money selling directly to HR VPs and they don't care about much except cost.
